100 Days of Nature – Day 52 – Looking at Now

In the meantime, all we can do (all we are allowed to do) is take in what is around us immediately. We often spend so much time thinking of somewhere else, that we miss what’s in front and around now. There’s still so much you or I haven’t seen yet of our immediate surroundings and what they have to offer.

100 Days of Nature – Day 49 – Serenity

Now that the weather is brightening up, with a few exceptions, more and more life is starting to emerge. If this isn’t something to look forward to, I dont know what is. Sometimes just to exist and observe is all you need.

100 Days of Nature – Day 46 – Emergence

Today it feels like we’re coming out of the darkness that was winter. It’s warmer, clearer and brighter. Finally, we’re seeing signs of Spring.

100 Days of Nature – Day 45 – Stillness

Over the last few weeks of doing this, I’ve noticed a change in myself. Of course, we all want to get out and see the world again. I’m planning my trip to climb Scafell as soon as. But, since making the effort to take a new picture every day of something I find beautiful, I’m noticing that I’m noticing. A small flower, the way a leaf catches the light. They all small things, but sometimes you catch yourself thinking about it. If no one else finds it beautiful, who’s really at a loss there?

100 Days of Nature – Day 44 – Freedom

We can at last see a pathway out of this situation, and soon we’ll be able to stretch our legs out elsewhere. I count myself lucky for living so close to the Wrekin, because when you’re on top of it, or any other peak, it does away with those walls that build up in your mind as a result of shutting in.

100 Days of Nature – Day 41 – Easy Days

Today I went for a walk in my local park, and for a little while, things felt normal. It’s rare I see so many people on a Sunday. The crocuses, it seems, have invaded and are everywhere. I feel like I’m seeing them more this year than ever, but it might also be just me paying more attention.

100 Days of Nature – Day 38 – Repetition

Right now, every days feels the same. Get up, work, clean, eat, bed. Sometimes, however, a bit of repetition, that bit of surety is nice. Somethings, you can set your watch by.

Crocuses, for example, turn up in the same spot at the local wooded area every year about this time, without fail. Today, as the workers were cutting down a massive amount of foliage that had managed to grow undisturbed for such a long time, knowing that these little things will still pop up no matter what is unusually comforting.

100 Days of Nature – Day 29 – A Splash of Colour

Winter can be a dull, drab time. Everything is grey or brown or just a bit icky (when there’s no snow about, in which event everything is glorious). But often thats when the odd splash of colour, usually going unnoticed, might suddenly pop out at you in the shape of leaves, flowers, little red berries.

100 Days of Nature – Day 28 – Snowdrops and Fog

The Wrekin is a bit of a treat this time of year, I think. Vivid colours, snowdrops… Even when there’s no leaves on the trees, there’s still a haunting beauty about them.
