There’s little that a good walk can cure, particularly amongst the trees. There’s no bustle, no pressure to be anywhere. Just you, your thoughts and the birds chirping away in the trees.

Anything, Everything
There’s little that a good walk can cure, particularly amongst the trees. There’s no bustle, no pressure to be anywhere. Just you, your thoughts and the birds chirping away in the trees.

Do you ever wonder whether you’re the only one in a mile radius who is in complete awe of something spectacular happening?

I love drawing animals, or painting them as its usually the case. I think they’re not only fascinating to study, they also very relaxing. The more complex, the better. Birds are my favourite, and I didn’t discover painting birds until the beginning of lockdown when I painted some for a local care home. I think they’re ideal for any skill, and it opens up an area of study you may not have realised could be fascinating, if only to examine how intricate their patterns are.

Today’s premise is simple. Just appreciating how nature can present itself in such ways, whether its the brightest sunset or the tallest trees, the smallest flowers or the most distinct looking animals.

The Wrekin is a bit of a treat this time of year, I think. Vivid colours, snowdrops… Even when there’s no leaves on the trees, there’s still a haunting beauty about them.

I love creepy, and many associate fog, or mist, with creepy. So called films, of course, but I also think of Silent Hill (I only ever played the original PS1 game as a kid, scarred me for a while). I think creepy can still be very beautiful though, in an eerie, unsettling way. Silhoettes, ominous glows where the sun should be clearly visible… figures emerging from nowhere…
A simple one today, but not ineffective. I’ve seen some flowers coming out today, and this makes me happy. I feel like flowers should be more appreciated as just… marvels. Maybe I’m just zen from from my 11 hours sleep, I don’t know.
I like flowers, okay?!

Today is the start of a four day break. Not much, and I never thought I’d appreciate a day off so much while remote working. But in a way, I appreciate it more than ever.
It is nice getting up to this, though.

Another throwback today, but I think its good to look back on the times that weren’t so samey. These days, my days consist of work, jog, binging Supernatural and a bit of washing thrown in. With a smattering of drawing and yoga, of course. But holidays, city breaks… they’re exactly that, a break from the mundane no matter what the world’s situation is.
Today, I’ve been thinking about my trip to Vienna in 2019. On this day, we went to the aquarium (that also had monkeys).

Surround yourself with pretty, living things.
